regarding Oct 10. 2003

I finally aroused myself fully.... when? Around noon or so is when I fully awoke and ate breakfast. I believe that I reheated some meatloaf and ate some other debris lying around. At around 1 (I believe) my friend Ben (ex-roommate, and still church intern) called and recruited me to pick up students on campus so they can get to the church and get on the bus for the Fall Retreat.

I wasted time until 4 or so when I quickly and inefficiently prepared myself for the weekend. I finally packed everything that I believed I would need and a few things I knew would just be fun. I never found my swimsuit (ah, when unseasonably warm is pleasant) but that's no big deal. I packed all I needed. I found the school stuff I was looking for. I got dressed and showered. I brushed my teeth. I had a crappy breakfast bar for lunch. I lost my keys earlier and couldn't find them when I needed them. They weren't everywhere or any where that they were supposed to be and I really couldn't (and didn't) put them anywhere else. I knew exactly where my spare set was and grabbed those.

I was supposed to arrive at the church at 5 PM.

I blasted out of my driveway full boar. I got on Mt. Hope and was running behind a guy going the full legal speed of 55 miles per hour (I intended to break the law; the guy in front of me decided not to and I can't pass a man during rush hour, even in the country). That's fine, I needed to obey the law. Some yahoo pulled in front of that guy and insisted that going 40 MPH on a 55 MPH stretch of road was all good and proper and possibly safe. Unless that guy had/has engine trouble I think he's being unsafe. So I was stuck, as well as the guy immediately in front of me, going 40. And dying.

I arrived at the church about 5:15 PM, hopped into a red mini-van and followed Mark Jennnings in a green mini-van as we went to campus to pick up non-driving folk. I was right on time and I let the wind comb (e.g. mess up) my freshly-showered wet hair.

There weren't that many to pick up. Mark got the most, I got two.

I drove safely back to the church and we all loaded up on one bus and the two rented mini-vans. I played Euchre with three of my friends roughly until about the time we got there.

We unloaded, registered, moved stuff in, and mingled. I resumed my annual game of carpet-ball and kicked butt with about eight or so solid victories until Lynn beat me (never did get that rematch. Let's hope it was a fluke... hope hope hope).

Ben, driving a mini-van, arrived stinking late (heh) but I got my room assignment and dropped off most of my stuff.

Fun and games ended with service (songs) and a Message by our speak, Mr Dennis Lutes.

We then had snacks (delicious dohnut holes and mini-bagels) or as I called it, dinner, and resumed our merriment. I played carpet-ball... talked with people.... and played doubles ping-pong (or whatever it's called); my game is improving but I still stink at it.

Eventually I went to bed. As I arrived at the cabin the light was still on and it remained so until about 2:30 or so. I discovered that I grabbed the wrong pillow. Man, I need support. But I eventually fell asleep. Good day and good evening.
